Luxembourg's Development Cooperation and its partners
Luxembourg development cooperation is firmly committed to the eradication of poverty, particularly in the least developed countries. Its actions are conceived in the spirit of sustainable development understood in its social, economic and environmental aspects - with men, women and children at its center. They are part of the implementation - by 2030 - of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The year 2021 saw many protracted and complex conflicts and crises, as well as crises linked to natural disasters and climate change. The COVID-19 pandemic continued to be a major threat to vulnerable populations dependent on humanitarian action throughout the year, with a major impact in areas where health systems are dysfunctional. Thanks to a budget increase at the end of the year, Luxembourg’s humanitarian action was able to step up its efforts to increase its support in the most urgent or under-funded humanitarian contexts.
