Thus, the Lux­em­bourg Devel­op­ment Coop­er­a­tion is assist­ing the Office of the Unit­ed Nations High Com­mis­sion­er for Human Rights to sup­port Myanmar’s civ­il soci­ety in pre­vent­ing human rights vio­la­tions and strength­en­ing account­abil­i­ty measures.

In the same vein, a con­tri­bu­tion of EUR 1 mil­lion in sup­port of ECHO’s inter­ven­tion plan (Euro­pean
Civ­il Pro­tec­tion and Human­i­tar­i­an Aid Oper­a­tions) was agreed in 2021, and the activ­i­ties under this plan were deployed in 2022.

At the end of 2022, the sec­ond phase of the 
MyCon­sti­tu­tion pro­gramme, imple­ment­ed by the Inter­na­tion­al Insti­tute for Democ­ra­cy and Electoral 
Assis­tance (Inter­na­tion­al IDEA), came to an end. The pro­gramme has sup­port­ed actors from Myan­mar to pro­vide the coun­try with a mod­ern and demo­c­ra­t­ic con­sti­tu­tion. Fol­low­ing the coup d’état in Feb­ru­ary 2021, the pro­gramme under­went major adjust­ments while retain­ing its rel­e­vance to (emerg­ing) demo­c­ra­t­ic actors with a view to a return of democ­ra­cy in Myanmar.
