As a strong supporter of multilateralism, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s commitment to multilateral organisations remains one of the mainstays of Luxembourg’s Development Cooperation when acting at international level. Through the Luxembourg Development Cooperation Strategy, entitled On the road to 2030’, the 2030 Agenda and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations are at the heart of Luxembourg’s Development Cooperation’s commitment.

In total, almost 30% of Luxembourg’s total official development assistance goes annually to international and multilateral organisations (EUR119,670,040.93 in 2019). Multilateral cooperation relates to both the agencies, funds and programmes in the United Nations family as well as other multilateral organisations such as the European Union (EU) institutions, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Organisation for Cooperation and Development in Europe (OECD).
