Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria

Their remit was to sup­port the Unit­ed Nations dis­as­ter assess­ment and coor­di­na­tion team. As for the emer​gency​.lu satel­lite com­mu­ni­ca­tion plat­form, two sys­tems were sent with the HIT team only one day after the earthquake.

In addi­tion, Lux­em­bourg has made a con­tri­bu­tion of EUR 500,000 to the Inter­na­tion­al Fed­er­a­tion of the Red Cross and Red Cres­cent (IFRC) to sup­port its emer­gency appeals, 60% for Turkey and 40% for Syr­ia. Final­ly, Lux­em­bourg allo­cat­ed EUR 430,000 to the emer­gency projects of the Lux­em­bour­gish human­i­tar­i­an NGOs Hand­i­cap Inter­na­tion­al Lux­em­bourg, CARE Lux­em­bourg and Fon­da­tion Car­i­tas Lux­em­bourg. In total, Lux­em­bourg, with the sup­port of the Euro­pean Union, con­tributed finan­cial and in-kind aid worth EUR 3.29 mil­lion, of which EUR 2.33 mil­lion was for Turkey and EUR 960,000 for Syria.
