Cross-cutting priorities

The major glob­al envi­ron­men­tal changes, and in par­tic­u­lar cli­mate change, loss of bio­di­ver­si­ty and deser­ti­fi­ca­tion, are adverse­ly impact­ing the human and nat­ur­al sys­tems on which human well-being and eco­nom­ic activ­i­ties are based.

The pro­mo­tion and the pro­tec­tion of gen­der equal­i­ty remain pri­or­i­ties of Luxembourg’s for­eign pol­i­cy, includ­ing in rela­tion to devel­op­ment coop­er­a­tion, where gen­der is at the core of the work done. 

Lux­em­bourg’s Devel­op­ment Coop­er­a­tion aims pri­mar­i­ly to strength­en the respect for and pro­tec­tion and real­i­sa­tion of human rights in order to cre­ate an envi­ron­ment that offers equal oppor­tu­ni­ties, so that each indi­vid­ual can freely deter­mine the course of his or her existence.
